What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? — Jesus Christ
While on camp last week I was greatly blessed by reading the amazing autobiography of Helen Roseveare, Give Me This Mountain.
Her writing and incredible life pulled me through the pages, but I was most affected by her spiritual insight: I learned, not only about her and about God, but about myself. I have only read it once, but I know that I will read it many more times.
I highly, highly recommend it.
… from a fantastic time on ski camp, and exhausted. I’m back for a tad longer this time.
A huge thankyou to everyone who prayed, every point was answered – Praise God!
Golly, a lot of comment action around! I’m looking forward to reading them all tomorrow. Until then, adieu!
I’ve plugged this before, but thought it was worth another plug. Friday procrastination doesn’t get any better than freerice.com
“When you have once seen the glow of happiness on the face of a beloved person, you know that a man can have no vocation but to awaken that light on the faces surrounding him…” — Albert Camus
This quote expresses me so completely and so perfectly. (It belongs, really, to the good friend from whom I now steal it.)
Thanks to the sacrifices of some, I have drunk from streams of pure joy; and have seen on the faces of many dear friends darkness vanish as its light dawns. What compares to the joy of knowing Jesus? And thus, as Camus so eloquently says, I know that I can have no vocation but to awaken that light on the faces of those surrounding me.
I’ve often been asked why I want to waste my life proclaiming Jesus name. This is why. What else is there to do? Oh, if I could bring Jesus’ light and life to but one soul, it would be worth every sacrifice!
Please, listen to Jesus – He has the words of eternal life; please, proclaim Jesus – and consider giving your life to it; and please, pray that God might use me in a lifetime of awakening the glow, that Jesus might get the glory.
I say a lot around here. Tonight it’s your turn. The comment section is your oyster. Have a rant, get excited, crack some jokes, but most of all, tackle the mammoth question:
What, in your view, is the meaning of life?
Don’t forget to stretch.
As you drive home one night, you see a very odd man standing by the road. Though his dress and manner were extremely queer, the strangest thing of all was the sign hanging around his neck:
“Logic is poppycock”
Shaking your head, your gaze returns to the road. But, try as you might to dismiss him as a madman, you just can’t stop thinking about his sign. ‘”hat if logic is nonsense? What would it mean? How do we know logic works? Have humans ‘discovered’ or ‘invented’ the ‘laws’ of logic? ”
Suddenly the man’s behaviour seems entirely natural.
I was thinking about these questions recently. What do you think?
Insightful, wise, good-lookin’ funnyman joel pj has started a new blog! Radical!
Check it out.
Well, after getting back last night from a super-duper AnCon, I’m just about to start packing again. 5am tomorrow morning will see me off on this sweet CruCamp. If you’re of the praying inclination, please be praying for snow, safety, fun times, that the kids will hear about Jesus and turn to follow Him, and that I will have the energy and love to serve the campers.

So, get set for another slowish week on TCA. While I have a break, why not take a bit of a break from the blogosphere yourself. (If you’re desperate, comments have continued to be hot, and I could especially use your help here and here.)
Last week I spent 45 minutes in a queue behind a very approachable group of 3 peeps my age. iPod in, book out, opportunity lost.
Selfish.
Jesus say, “God wen get so plenny love an aloha fo da peopo inside da world, dat he wen send me, his one an ony Boy, so dat everybody dat trus me no get cut off from God, but get da kine life dat stay to da max foeva.” (John Tell Bout Jesus 3:16)
A mate told me about the Bible in Hawai’ian Pidgin. It’s very cool.
