“When you have once seen the glow of happiness on the face of a beloved person, you know that a man can have no vocation but to awaken that light on the faces surrounding him…” — Albert Camus
This quote expresses me so completely and so perfectly. (It belongs, really, to the good friend from whom I now steal it.)
Thanks to the sacrifices of some, I have drunk from streams of pure joy; and have seen on the faces of many dear friends darkness vanish as its light dawns. What compares to the joy of knowing Jesus? And thus, as Camus so eloquently says, I know that I can have no vocation but to awaken that light on the faces of those surrounding me.
I’ve often been asked why I want to waste my life proclaiming Jesus name. This is why. What else is there to do? Oh, if I could bring Jesus’ light and life to but one soul, it would be worth every sacrifice!
Please, listen to Jesus – He has the words of eternal life; please, proclaim Jesus – and consider giving your life to it; and please, pray that God might use me in a lifetime of awakening the glow, that Jesus might get the glory.

dude. great quote. super-encouraging post.
keep trusting and proclaiming Jesus brother!
Really? This is the man who got you started?
Mind telling me that story, or linking to the entry where you’ve already told it? I’m interested in reading that.
Oh! I really should tell my story sometime! Thanks for the suggestion!
This quote is actually more of a parallel to my life than a turning point upon it. I heard it at a 21st of one of my best friends. The reason it is significant was not because it changed how I thought, but because it so completely expressed how I felt already.
To explain the reasons behind that feeling, I suppose I’d have to go further back still. But that’s a story I’ll have to tell more completely…. in a post.
Excellent, I look forward to it.
