I want to like them. They love Jesus, their statement of belief on their website is generally very good. There are a couple of things I don't like - such as their emphasis on prosperity in this life, or the unbalanced emphasis on sentiment over thinking. I think it is a bit too much like a rock concert. But if they love Jesus and trust in Him, they are my brothers and sisters. I don't think I can comment on Mercy Ministries. I suspect I don't have the full story of those recent events - the little I know comes from extremely biased sources - and it would surprise me if those events were a representative sample of all its operations. I will say that I think most churches aren't doing enough to help the poor and disadvantaged. In that respect, I like what Hillsong is doing. It may be that they are doing it badly, however.
