Food for thought #1:
Waiting For Godot, by Samuel Beckett, is a very thought provoking play. I’ve been reading it for English. There’s stacks of challenging stuff in there, but I won’t unpack it all.
I just wanted to share one of my favourite bits. (Is it cool to have a favourite part of an English text?)
V: Say you are, even if it’s not true.
E: What am I to say?
V: Say, I am happy.
E: I am happy.
V: So am I.
E: So am I.
V: We are happy.
E: We are happy. [Silence.] What do we do now, now that we are happy?
I’ve been thinking about it for a while now. What do you make of it?

I like it because it shows the emptiness of seeing the pursuit of happiness as the purpose of life.
The Central Coast is an awesome place to live, and I think many of the people in the area are living for that. Probably myself included.
we only ever touched on godot briefly in drama. so haven’t studied it.

before reading your comment i was thinking something similar to what you said.
when happiness for the sake of happiness is our purpose in life – then what.
when it’s happiness (joy) in Jesus – then that defines our whole life. it isn’t an empty purpose. it was actually why we were made.
True dat!
Thanks for the insight!
